Phil Challis:
Phil Challis has lived in the Loddon ward since 1989, with his wife and two children and feels that Woodley has a great sense of community. Phil has enjoyed playing an active part in the community and at various times he has been a school governor, youth football team manager, chairman of Loddon Valley Action Group and is currently a member of the steering group of Woodley Community Partnership. He is currently working as a part-time Management Consultant based here in the Loddon Ward, which gives him time for action in the community. As well as being a Woodley Town Councillor for the Airfield ward, Phil is also a Wokingham Borough Councillor for the whole Loddon ward. |

Matt Hayward:
Matt Hayward is 38, works as a high speed train driver and grew
up in Kingfisher Drive. Matt has always liked Woodley's great sense of community and although he is still a Woodley man at heart he has had to move just outside of Woodley to afford to buy a house. (Like many first-time buyers!). Matt's family still live in Woodley and he says, "I want to put something back into Woodley and have lots of enthusiasm for the future of our town". |

Alan Clifford:
Alan has lived in Woodley with his wife and family for
30 years, with all three of his sons educated in local schools. Alan has been a Town Councillor and Borough Councillor for
the past 15 years and in that time he has been spokesperson for Policy & Resources and Community Services committees, has
been Liberal Democrat Group Leader, and chaired a number of committees. Alan has gained extensive knowledge of housing
issues and has worked with Wokingham Borough Council to provide more affordable housing for key workers, such as nurses,
police and teachers. He is keen to see resources for young people considered as part of an overall neighbourhood plan
that will not disadvantage any sections of the community. |

Denis
Thair:
Denis is a well known Councillor
in Loddon West having represented residents on both Woodley Town and Wokingham Borough Council.
Denis has used his experience to support the Save Open
Space campaign and is working with
residents to try and
ensure that the South Lake Infant School site is not taken totally
taken over by housing, ensuring that some local facilities will
be provided on the site. |

Tony
Mattingley: Tony
and his family have lived in Woodley for over 30 years. He
is particulary concerned about the elderly people of the town
and is actively involved in this area.
In the past, Tony has
been a voluntary driver for the "Meals on Wheels"
service. He is also concerned about planning and the structure
of the town, environmental issues and
the lack of Police and
Traffic Warden presence in Woodley.
Tony
also serves as Woodley Town Council's
representative on Readibus.

Celia Storry:
Celia is a volunteer at the Royal Berks Hospital and helps raise
funds for the Air Ambulance. She says "I am interested in working for the community to make Woodley a safe and pleasant
place for all." Celia was a teacher in a local primary school and then taught at Bracknell and Wokingham College. |

Malcolm Storry: Malcolm is a strong campaigner against over-development. He has lived in Bulmershe and Whitegates ward for 24 years and represented the area as a Borough Councillor for 10 years. Malcolm campaigns to improve education. He is governor of a local school and a retired college lecturer. |

Shelagh Flower:
Shelagh
served as the Chairman of
Woodley Town Council (2001/3) and
had the opportunity to meet many of the residents of Woodley
who do valuable charitable work. A former Chair of Governors
at Beechwood School, Shelagh is particularly
keen on working
with the youth and is currently working with a group of young
people keen to have a skateboard area. Shelagh is the Mayor of Woodley. |

Sam Rahmouni:
Sam
represents Bulmershe ward on
Wokingham Borough Council and
has also served on Woodley Town Council for 4 years. He is an
active member of the community and serves on many charitable
committees. He is currently using his
talents supporting Woodley
& Earley Lions. |

North |

Ray Duncan:
Ray has lived in Woodley for sixteen years and is a Lecturer in Law at Thames Valley University and may be known by some
for running popular evening classes in Law for many years. He is Branch Chair of the lecturers' Union at UCU and, as such, has
a good track record in vigorously defending the interests and jobs of individual members. He is also a member of the University Health and Safety Committee.
His interests include sport and travel and he is anxious to represent local opinion on Woodley Town Council. |

Mary
Holmes: Mary
has lived on the South Lake estate with her husband Eric and
their family since 1966. After leaving school in Essex, she
worked at the Meteorological Office in Bracknell before having
her family and later returned there in 1990 - before retiring
in April 2003. Mary takes an active part in the congregation
at St. James's Church in South Lake, helping with the Thursday
lunch-time Sandwich Bar and also with the older generation at
their regular group called 'Rendezvous'. Mary is a keen photographer
and birdwatcher and takes an interest in local environmental
issues. Mary is Chair of Community Services.

Coling
Lawley:
Coling
is one of the best known faces in Woodley, having spent over
25 years as Manager of a local well known high street chemist. Coling has been the Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group at Wokingham Borough Council and Deputy Leader of the Council. Now working part time, Coling is tireless in the
work that he does for the Southlake Ward. Coling has many interests and adds
his weight to every campaign that helps ensure a better quality of
life for his residents. Coling is a trustee of Woodley Age Concern and is Deputy Leader of Woodley Town Council. |

Kay
Gilder:
Kay has served the community of Southlake as both a Town and
Borough Councillor for many years. She is involved in many
areas of sport and serves on committees for
the elderly, Age
Concern, and the Area Youth Committee. Kay firmly believes in
engaging the youth of Woodley in meaningful activity and has
worked hard to help provide good facilities for them. Kay is Chair of Leisure. |

Linda Higgs:
Linda is campaigning against over-development of Woodley which creates a huge strain on local infrastructure. Her other concerns include anti-social
behaviour, and traffic, speeding and parking issues in the town. She has lived in the ward for 23 years and cares strongly
about the local environment and community. |

Beth
Rowland:
Beth
is a well known figure in
Southlake where she has lived and
brought up her family, all attending local schools. Beth is
a Governor of Southlake Primary School and a former Chair
of Governors on South Lake Infants School.
While Chairman
of Education on Wokingham Borough Council, where she represents
Southlake,
she was instrumental in bringing the two schools
together to form such an excellent new facility for the community.
Beth is the Leader of Woodley Town Council.

Jenny
Lissaman: Jenny represents Whitegates on both Wokingham Borough and Earley Town Councils. She has lived in the ward for over 30 years and both her children attended local primary and secondary schools. Jenny first became involved in local issues and campaigns through the Association of Central Earley Residents and was first elected in 1994. A keen environmentalist, Jenny has been active in many local campaigns and is especially concerned about the high level and speed of traffic in the ward. She also has a keen interest and experience in planning and serves on the planning committee. |

Tahir Maher: is campaigning to clean up our local streets. His other passions include the local environment and reducing crime. Tahir was a founding member of Arthritis Matters in the Reading area and works with other local charities.
He has lived in Earley for over 5 years with his wife and two young sons who have both attended Earley St Peters primary school. He is an accountant working in the rail industry, and he also knows local authorities having previously worked at one for a number of years.

Bill Gothard: is passionate about his community and campaigns to protect the environment. He has worked hard to improve leisure facilities for young people. He has lived in Earley for 20 years and until his recent retirement was a lecturer in Careers Guidance and Counselling at Reading University. He also worked part time for the Open University as a tutor for 29 years.
Recently he helped set up the Oxfam bookshop in Woodley where he works as a volunteer. Bill was a parent governor of Bulmershe school for 4 years and has been a governor of 3 other Reading schools. He has a long standing concern for young people and is a panel member of the local Youth Offending Team as well as working part time as a careers adviser. |
