The Elms Field campaign petition asking the Council not to build on the open space at Elms Field has today been presented to Andy Couldrick the Chief Executive of Wokingham Borough Council. The petition with 1,777 signatories comfortabley exceeds the 1,500 number required to trigger a full Council debate on the petition.

Lib Dem opposition leader Cllr Prue Bray said “We have been overwhelmed by the strength of opposition to the Conservative’s plans and look forward to an open public debate on this issue. I just hope the Conservatives will finally listen to their residents and stop kidding themselves that people support this. We expect that this debate will be held separately to the November council meeting and that the Council will announce the date and location imminently. I would urge all concerned residents to attend the debate meeting.”
